The Seahorse project, is an exterior landscape architecture project located in Chongqing, China. It is essentially a water-park shaped as a seahorse. It includes many interesting water features as well as a few seating areas and playing objects. The project also included lighting features for night views.
The project is a master plan for a mixed-use development that contains educational, residential and commercial facilities. The proposal has been conceptualized as kids’ doodles on a piece of paper, creating areas for resting and playing as well as sports public facilities.
A public space beautification inspired by the digital concept of pixels. Every pixel is a component with a different function on it. Thus, the functional pixels are positioned in different combinations in order to generate a hyper-stimulating hardscape of leisure activities.
Red Carpet in Shanghai
The design strategy is to create a massive inclined plaza as a grandstand that overlooks toward the pedestrian road, generating unique urban views of Shanghai downtown. Also, the “red” layer reaches the road to then climb up the façade of the existing buildings as a curtain façade for public art, projections and performances.
