NOMAD’S CARPET
Nomad’s Carpet is a monumental public space in Astana, inspired by the intricate carpets used by Kazakhstan’s nomadic tribes to decorate their yurts with symbolic patterns and vibrant colors.NOMAD’S CARPET
Each knot in those traditional carpets becomes a colorful pixel here, transforming into functional spaces that blend greenery, sports, play areas, and cultural landmarks into one cohesive urban tapestry.NOMAD’S CARPET
Also known as the Juldyz Memorial and Entertainment Hub, the project reinterprets Kazakh ornamental patterns as contemporary geometric abstractions applied across pavements, landscape elements, and urban furniture.NOMAD’S CARPET
The site is structured around four key corners, each dedicated to a specific program: a sports hub, an urban forest, a family playland, and a peaceful green park for relaxation.NOMAD’S CARPET
The sports corner features multipurpose courts, fields, and workout zones designed to foster physical activity and community engagement, serving all ages and skill levels throughout the year.NOMAD’S CARPET
The urban forest offers a lush, immersive environment, combining dense greenery with winding paths, shaded resting areas, and spaces for quiet contemplation within the city fabric.NOMAD’S CARPET
The playland corner is a vibrant theme park for families, filled with interactive installations, colorful structures, and playful landscapes designed to inspire creativity and social interaction.NOMAD’S CARPET
The fourth corner is a tranquil green park, offering open lawns, shaded seating, and spaces for casual gatherings, picnics, and community events in a relaxed environment.NOMAD’S CARPET
Each corner is supported by a service building that provides amenities, including training centers, arcades, co-working spaces, and indoor gyms, ensuring comfort and convenience for visitors.NOMAD’S CARPET
At the heart of Nomad’s Carpet stands a monumental memorial complex, representing the soul of Kazakhstan and serving as the cultural epicenter of the entire development.NOMAD’S CARPET
Four grand buildings occupy the ground floor of this complex: an art museum, a history museum, a library, and a conference hall, forming a complete cultural offering.NOMAD’S CARPET
Above these buildings, four large exhibition halls are arranged on the second floor, connected by an elevated green pathway that invites visitors on a symbolic journey.NOMAD’S CARPET
This elevated pathway crosses through each exhibition hall, gradually leading visitors toward the center, where a majestic cascading water feature awaits as a focal point.NOMAD’S CARPET
The elevated balcony overlooking the water creates an overwhelming sense of scale and serenity, offering visitors a moment for reflection and admiration of the nation's progress.NOMAD’S CARPET
All forms in the project are inspired by the geometric abstraction of Kazakh symbols — zoomorphic, plant-based, cosmogonic, and geometric patterns reinterpreted into bold contemporary designs.NOMAD’S CARPET
The core design reimagines the Shanyrak, the iconic circular opening of the yurt roof, symbolizing family unity, protection, and connection between the earth and the sky.NOMAD’S CARPET
Where nomads once looked upward to navigate by the stars, visitors now look down onto floating forests and pristine waters, symbolizing prosperity, growth, and the nation’s future.© 100architects

THE HUB
The Hub, located in Marassi on Egypt’s North Coast, is a sprawling entertainment destination covering 60,000 m². It serves as a central point for youth activities and social interactions.THE HUB
Designed by 100architects for Emaar Misr, The Hub introduces a bold and colorful public space. It immerses visitors in experiences that engage people of all ages, but it’s especially targeted at adolescents and young adults.THE HUB
In late 2023, Emaar Misr approached 100architects with an ambitious goal: to design a one-of-a-kind entertainment hub. The vision was to create a social anchor for young people in the Marassi development.THE HUB
The idea was for The Hub to complement the existing public facilities and amenities for adults at Marassi. This gave the project a clear focus on creating a lively and energetic space for youth.THE HUB
The challenge was immense—100architects had only two months to design and six months to complete the construction of this groundbreaking project.THE HUB
Construction kicked off in January 2024, with the team working at full speed. The goal was to deliver the immersive and dynamic space just in time for the summer season.THE HUB
At the core of The Hub’s design is the concept of a "Big Bang," symbolizing life, youth, and energy. This idea is translated through bold visuals and dynamic forms.THE HUB
The "Big Bang" concept manifests in the use of bright colors, engaging lighting, and flowing shapes. Together, they create an inviting environment that draws people in.THE HUB
Visitors are guided through the space by a creative wayfinding system, with colorful lines embedded directly into the ground. These lines enhance foot traffic flow while adding to the design's visual appeal.THE HUB
The master plan of The Hub is structured around a "triple heart" layout. This layout consists of three primary zones: a multipurpose event space, a playground, and a Kids Town.THE HUB
The Central Plaza sits at the heart of The Hub, surrounded by these three key zones. This arrangement is designed to encourage spontaneous interactions and self-expression.THE HUB
The Hub’s design encourages social engagement and youth expression, staying true to 100architects' philosophy of creating public spaces that foster community interaction.THE HUB
The design is vibrant and dynamic, inviting visitors to explore, play, and connect in a space that is both entertaining and social.THE HUB
The multipurpose event space is designed to host a variety of activities. It can adapt to different types of gatherings, from concerts to community events.THE HUB
The playground is one of the main attractions at The Hub, offering spaces for physical play and creative exploration for children and teenagers.THE HUB
Kids Town is specifically designed for younger audiences, featuring playful installations and areas where kids can safely explore and engage with their surroundings.THE HUB
Besides these main areas, The Hub also offers a variety of attractions such as an open-air cinema, a go-kart track, and a roller-skating rink. These activities are aimed at engaging both children and young adults.THE HUB
Sports courts are also available, adding to the variety of activities. Visitors can participate in various sports while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.THE HUB
The arcade offers an indoor entertainment option, giving visitors a chance to engage with games and virtual activities in a fun, immersive setting.THE HUB
The flexible public spaces are designed to accommodate pop-up markets, concerts, and workshops. These areas are adaptable to seasonal or temporary events, enhancing the overall experience.THE HUB
The Hub’s commercial aspect includes 10,000 m² dedicated to F&B and 15,000 m² for retail spaces. This combination makes it not only a place for entertainment but also a destination for dining and shopping.THE HUB
Container-based F&B outlets are a standout feature, adding an industrial edge to the design. These outlets, along with locally themed retail shops, resonate with the young, urban crowd.THE HUB
The modular design approach enabled a rapid construction process while maintaining the striking visual appeal that defines The Hub.THE HUB
The Hub’s success has been immediate, with large crowds flocking to the space each day. Its vibrant atmosphere and wide range of activities have made it a key destination on Egypt’s North Coast.© 100architects

Visitors are invited to explore seating areas, public pools, shaded lounges, playful features, sports courts, and an open-air cinema. Each stop offers a unique, immersive experience for everyone.BLUE WAVE
The promenade is organized into distinct zones catering to different interests and age groups. Each zone brings its own character, yet remains connected by the blue wave pavement.BLUE WAVE

Despite differences in energy, all zones share the same flowing design language. The undulating pavement and curved shapes unify the spaces, reinforcing harmony with the natural coastline.BLUE WAVE
Concave areas offer easy beach access and host playful or social activities, while convex forms stretch out toward the sea, creating gathering plazas and mini-piers for entertainment.BLUE WAVE
A dedicated bikeway runs throughout the master plan, connecting zones and offering locals and visitors an enjoyable, efficient way to explore the entire waterfront with ease.BLUE WAVE
